Cyber Security Awareness Month: Thoughts and Insights About Real Fraud Stories

October marks Cyber Security Awareness Month, an initiative launched in 2004 by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the National Cyber Security Alliance. For more than 20 years, it has aimed to raise awareness about digital risks, fraud, and online safety, evolving over time to address new challenges in the digital landscape.

At XTN, we’ve been committed for several years to producing awareness content, supporting the cause, and contributing as much as possible to educating digital users. This year, we decided to bring you real stories of digital fraud and cyber threats from around the world, taking a close look at how scams operate, the human impact behind the headlines, and how digital protection can help people regain control. We call this series Xposed, and we’ll be keeping you company throughout the month.

The series explores:

  • How digital fraud works, often in ways we don’t expect.
  • Why people can fall victim.
  • How digital systems can detect anomalies, raise alerts, and prevent further harm.
  • Reflections on trust, risk, and living safely in a connected world.

Join us this October. Cyber Security Awareness Month is not just about statistics; it’s about understanding, protecting, and empowering ourselves in the digital age!

October 2 the first story drops. A small hint…AnyDesk!
