13 January 2018 was the deadline for Member States to incorporate Directive 2015/2366/EU, known as PSD2, into their national legal systems.
The goal of the “Payment Services Directive II” is to standardize the modalities of making digital payments, ensure safer transactions and protect consumers.
PSD2 is only the latest of a series of measures taken by the European legislator in the field of payment services with the aim of pursuing the development of an integrated single market by standardizing the rules among Payment Service Providers (PSPs).
